From May to November 2009, thirty political asylum seekers slept overnight in a central square in the city of Milan, Italy. They had to face rain, cold and police attacks.

"The trap" is the witness, recorded live, of the tragic story of Paulus, Rachid, Kamal and other political asylum seekers. Once in Italy, they thought they could finally realize the dream of a better life full of rights and respect. Unfortunately, they discover a reality of suffering, discrimination, and especially of violated rights. They decide to begin a long battle for their rights but they face a wall of bureaucracy and political exploitation that takes them to the risk of losing their status of refugees.

With images ever seen on Italian television but broadcast worldwide, we follow their struggle for life and dignity.
